Any dental problem requiring immediate attention to stop bleeding, relieve severe pain, or save a tooth is considered a dental emergency. Emergencies can result from tooth decay, accidents, broken restorations, facial trauma, cavities reaching the nerve, or severe infections that may even become life-threatening.
At Kennedy Heights Dental Centre, we provide same-day emergency care to help our patients find immediate relief and protect their oral health.
A dental emergency is any oral issue causing significant pain, discomfort, or interfering with your daily life. Symptoms often include:
If you experience any of these symptoms, prompt dental care is essential.
We follow the British Columbia Dental Association Fee Guide to ensure high quality dentistry is affordable and transparent.
We’ll charge your insurance company directly. If your insurance plan doesn’t cover 100% of the treatment, you’ll just have to pay the difference.
Many of our patients pay out of pocket with cash, credit card, debit etc. We also offer in-house financing or third party financing through iDental.
We know most folks don’t like going to the dentist. We use industry leading technology and super gentle techniques to ensure our patients are comfortable. We offer a wide range of solutions for patients with dental anxiety.
No one wants to be surprised with a bill for their dentistry. We always focus on being extra transparent with what work is being completed, how much treatment will cost, and what portion insurance will cover. We are competitively priced for those who do not have dental insurance.
Our mission is to deliver unparalleled dental care by prioritizing patient comfort, trust and satisfaction. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment, where our dental team provides personalized, compassionate care that meets advanced technology, ensuring every patient enjoys a positive, stress-free experience and leaves with a healthy, radiant smile.
The first step to better oral health is giving us a call to book an appointment online.
During your first visit we will take some X-Rays and give you a tour of your mouth with our intra oral scanners. Then, we'll learn about your oral health goals and give you any applicable treatment options.
Once you know what is going on inside of your mouth, you make the treatment decisions that are best for you. We will never be pushy or recommend treatment that you don't need.
Quick action can:
Seek emergency dental care if you have:
Toothache
Persistent toothache may indicate infection or serious damage. Rinse your mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to your cheek to manage pain until you can see your dentist.
Knocked-Out Teeth
Handle the tooth by the crown (top), not the root. Gently rinse it without scrubbing and, if possible, place it back in its socket. If that isn’t possible, place it in a container of milk and visit us immediately ideally within an hour.
Broken Wires and Braces
If a wire breaks or comes loose, try to adjust it gently into a comfortable position. If adjustment isn’t possible, cover it with cotton and contact us right away to prevent injury.
Abscess
An abscess is a serious infection near the root of a tooth or between teeth and gums. While rinsing with saltwater can offer temporary relief, you should visit our office immediately to prevent the infection from spreading.
Good oral hygiene and healthy habits are your best defense against emergencies. Here’s how:
Being proactive helps you avoid painful surprises and protects your long-term oral health.
If you do experience a dental emergency, don’t wait. Ignoring symptoms can lead to more severe and permanent issues. Most dental emergencies, when treated promptly, are temporary and fully correctable with restorative care.
